Overture

A claim in one breath, set large

The lead sets the register for everything beneath it: one or two sentences, never a wall, always in running text.

Placeholder figure
No. 01 — FigureCaption pair

Atelier heroground

Character
Gallery-calm, slow, material, confident.
Use when
One claim under ~10 words, a two-sentence lead, and a figure that can carry 7 of 12 columns at 8:7.
Avoid
A screenshot as the figure (use HeroBleed or the product hero); a third control; a claim over two lines at 1280.
Seam
Ends on the mono caption pair — anything below needs a rule or a plane step, the figure’s bottom edge is not a seam.
Supercharge
Keep the accent glow behind the figure on light; let the caption pair name the figure and its date; stagger hero-in by 120ms.
Portability
System-bound: 5/7 split, hero-in, caption register. Topic-bound: the figure and its aspect.

Rendered live

Nº 02Bleeding overture

A figure that bleeds, a claim that stays

Six columns of type over a ledger field; the figure’s own edge is the plane.

Still-life — ledger paperFigure edge is a plane

Placeholder still-life

Bleeding heroground (+ texture-ledger)

Character
Cinematic, spacious, one long breath.
Use when
A still-life or object photograph with quiet left third; six columns of type; a kicker with something to say.
Avoid
Busy figures with detail on the left half — the mask leaves ~20% alpha under the type; more than two controls.
Seam
The figure edge is its own plane (ATLAS-experiments §4.2). The bottom hairline is the seam; whatever follows may sit directly on ground.
Supercharge
Put the caption inside the type column, never over the figure; let the kickerNote carry the edition or date.
Portability
System-bound: mask ramp, ledger field, 6-col type block. Topic-bound: the still-life.

Step spine

Itinerary

Three steps on one spine

  1. Write the score

Name the movements before any markup exists.

  2. Realise each movement

Pick the voice, pick the block, check the content precondition.

  3. Scroll and verify

Density breathes, one h1, one gate band, seams intentional.

Designed for three; five at most.

Step spineground · band (numerals mask with the local ground)

Character
Procedural, patient, one line of thought.
Use when
Three to five steps with a title and one sentence each. Designed for three — the spine holds it, not column balance.
Avoid
More than five (becomes a manual); steps without a verb; a figure that competes with the spine for weight.
Seam
Closes on the optional mono note; next movement should change plane or open with a rule.
Supercharge
Give the figure slot a single token-built diagram; keep bodies under 140 characters so the spine reads as rhythm.
Portability
Fully topic-free.

Principles grid

Inline pattern — a rule, an h2, three hairline-topped cells. No component; compose it in the page.

Rendered live

Three principles, on hairlines.

01

Tokens only

No raw hex, no text-white. Dark mode is free when every colour is a token.

02

One voice per section

Modulate at movement boundaries and score the seam; never mix vocabularies inside a section.

03

Headings never centre

Left-aligned always. The right column is for evidence.

Principles gridground

Character
Ledger-calm, enumerative, even-handed.
Use when
Three (or six) equal claims, each a title plus two lines. A rule above, hairline tops on each cell.
Avoid
Four cells (reads as a table); icons; cards — this is the voice’s no-card enumeration.
Seam
The rule at the top is the seam in; leave with a movement gap, not a rule.
Supercharge
Number the cells in mono; keep titles to four words so the hairline tops align as a single line.
Portability
Topic-free.
pattern/A/mechanismAAtelier editorialMECHANISM

Origin split

Inline pattern — h2 rail in five columns, body in six from column seven.

Rendered live

Mechanism

How a seam
earns its score.

A seam is the boundary between two movements. It reads as intentional when it carries a device — a rule, a step to another plane, a texture change, or a recurring motif — and it reads as an accident when two identical planes butt against each other with nothing between them.

The inter-voice compatibility index scores a seam from one to five on that basis. Four is the bar; a hero figure caps at five but never raises the seam below it.

Origin splitground · band

Character
Explanatory, unhurried, editorial.
Use when
An h2 that states the mechanism in one line, and 120–220 words of body that explain it. h2 in 5 columns, body in 6 from column 7.
Avoid
Lists in the body; more than two paragraphs; a figure — this is the text-only movement.
Seam
Open with a kicker; close on the last paragraph. Pair with a PASSAGE or SPECIMEN after, never another split.
Supercharge
Set the h2 with a line break you choose; keep the body at 17px, not lead size.
Portability
Topic-free.

Facts bandground · band · gate

Character
Evidentiary, quiet, exact.
Use when
Four facts with a short mono label and a value that fits in six characters.
Avoid
Sentences as values; more than four cells in a row; facts you cannot stand behind — use a Probel gap instead.
Seam
Its own border-y pair is the seam on both sides. Works as the recurring motif (GroundMotif).
Supercharge
Tabular numerals; one value in accent-deep when the page has a hero number.
Portability
Topic-free.

Materials quote

Rendered live

One human speaks. Set it large enough to be the only thing on the plane, short enough to be read in a breath.

Name Surname — Role, Company

Materials quoteground · gate

Character
Human, warm, a pause.
Use when
One quote under 30 words that a named person said; a portrait or object figure optional at left.
Avoid
Two quotes side by side; stars; a quote that repeats the h2 above it.
Seam
Airy by nature — it is the breath between two dense movements. Leave it on a spacing beat, no rule.
Supercharge
Mask-reveal the figure; cite in mono with role and company on one line.
Portability
Topic-free; the figure is topic-bound.

CTA band

Inline pattern — h2 left, control pair right, aligned items-end.

Rendered live

Restate the offer.
Then ask once.

One line of lead at most.

CTA bandground · band · gate

Character
Declarative, resolved, unhurried.
Use when
An h2 that restates the offer, an optional one-line lead, and a control pair (primary + outline) aligned to the baseline on the right.
Avoid
Three controls; a form; centering.
Seam
Last movement before the foot. A rule above it; nothing below but the foot.
Supercharge
Set the pair items-end so the controls sit on the h2’s baseline; square controls on ground, rounded on gate.
Portability
Topic-free.

Ground motifground · gate (final statement only)

Character
A recurring bass note.
Use when
Two cells and a running total, repeated verbatim between movements so the repetition is the seam device.
Avoid
More than two cells; changing geometry between instances; using it as the only breath between two dense movements.
Seam
It is the seam. ~130px — a beat, not an airy movement (COMPOSITION §5).
Supercharge
Advance the values every instance; invert only the last.

Character
Honest, tabular, editorial.
Use when
Two to six offers, each with a name, one line, and 2–4 mono slots. Unsettled slots render as marked gaps.
Avoid
Prices you have not confirmed (leave the gap); more than four slot columns; an h2 inside the sheet.
Seam

Specimen documentground · band

Character
Evidentiary, meticulous, the product showing its working.
Use when
A real artefact of the product (invoice, report, trace) restaged from tokens with truthful data.
Avoid
A screenshot pasted in its place; invented numbers; more than ~8 lines.
Seam
